Our community is growing stronger with the vision and direction of a local, thriving business
Celebrating 55 years in operation, KIN Enterprises has provided individuals with disabilities a wide array of support ranging from mobility to basic life and work skills. According to Executive Director, Shawn Elder, “KIN is a place that helps people with disabilities achieve goals, life skills, socialize and have something to look forward to.” “The whole point of what we do is to improve the quality of their lives. We have such a great, caring group that strives to make KIN as best it can be.”
With almost 200 participants and 60 staff members, KIN Enterprises includes three locations in Prince Albert that serves the city, surrounding area and the north.
KIN Enterprises offers training programs based on the needs of the participant. The activities and work experiences are tailored individually to provide a social setting, enhancing numerous skills including greater independence and overall learning. Some programs also have close community involvement, such as city contracts, providing confidential paper pick up and shredding, paper and wire recycling, and restaurant and retail services.
Director of Programs and Services, Hillary Brahniuk elaborates, “Our goal is to become more and more prominent to the community. We’re really working to raise awareness that everyone deserves to have meaningful work and a sense of value, and about how much support is actually needed for people with disabilities, and of course finding different ways for our participants to fit in to the community and know they belong.”
