Nov 24, 2018 | 1:43 PM

The cool temperatures didn’t appear to put a damper on the 2018 Santa Claus Parade.

The parade began at 10:30 a.m. on Central Ave.by the museum and ended at the Gateway Mall.

Leading the way were representatives from the Prince Albert Police Service and Prince Albert Fire Department. The parade ended with Santa Claus following up the rear.

A number of groups had floats in the parade ranging from The Salvation Army to the Prince Albert Winter Festival. Some city councillors as well had floats along with local federal and provincial representatives.

Speaking to paNOW, Carolyn Carleton the executive director with Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District, which organizes the parade, said this year’s parade was similar in size to previous years.

“We have about the same amount of floats that we’ve had throughout the years, we try not to make it too long because people are standing outside,” he said.

Carleton estimated the parade had 25 floats in total. She added many were quite different from one another which offered variety.

Watching the parade with her family Violet Copas had high praise for the event.

“I think it’s really good this year,” she said.“It’s just something for the kids to come and watch before Christmas and to get them to know what Christmas is about.”

For Copas the cool conditions and light snow didn’t create any problems.

“Its winter, it’s known to happen for it to snow,” she said.

Charlene Greyeyes who also came out to watch the parade with her family, also enjoyed the affair.

“I thought the music was great and it was a lot of fun and there was some very pretty floats,” she said.

Greyeyes and her family have come out to take in the parade a number of times in the past and said this one was good compared with previous years.

She also figured the weather was ideal for the event.

“It’s actually the big flakes of snow which are really good,” she said.
