Canada blanks France to grab bronze in World Rugby Sevens Series season opener
GLENDALE, Colo. — Canada has finished third in the HSBC World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series season opener after blanking France 28-0 on Sunday.
The Canadian squad received two tries from Bianca Farella, as well as one apiece for Charity Williams and Kaili Lukan.
Captain Ghislaine Landry, who became the first-ever women’s player to hit 1,000 career points with a try against France on Saturday, added two conversions, as did Breanne Nicholas.
Earlier Sunday, Canada held off Russia 21-17 in the Cup quarterfinals, but fell to New Zealand 28-19 in the semis.
