Prince Albert police charged two people after getting robbery calls Thursday night.

The first call came in around 8:30 p.m. from a business on the 800 block of 15th Street. Police said a security guard attempted to stop a man trying to leave the business without paying for some merchandise. The man allegedly threatened the security guard with a knife before fleeing on a bicycle.

Police were able to find the 37-year-old man, who is from Montreal Lake a short distance away. He is charged with uttering threats and theft under $5,000. The man, whose name was not released by police, is slated to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Friday.

The second call came in early Friday morning. Police said they got a call from the 1500 block of River Street, after a resident saw someone trying to break into their truck. When the resident went out to confront the suspect, who had his face covered, a gun was allegedly pulled. The male suspect demanded property from the victim and got away with money and a cell phone.

According to police, the victim was able to get away and phone them from inside their home. Police responded, including K9 Daxa. Daxa was eventually able to track the suspect to a backyard on the 1500 block of River St. E., where the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect, a 17-year-male youth from Prince Albert is facing a number of charges, including armed robbery, theft under $5,000 and wearing a face covering while committing an offence.

The youth will make his first court appearance in Prince Albert Friday.
