P.A. bull rider moves up in world rankings
Prince Albert’s Tanner Byrne has cracked the top 20 for the Professional Bull Riders’ (PBR) world rankings.
Byrne made the jump from 23rd to 19th, after a sixth-place finish last weekend at the PBR’s fourth and final major event of the season in Nashville.
Friday night, the 26-year-old advanced through the opening two rounds on buck-off time. He began the night lasting 6.95 seconds on a bull named Baby Boy to eliminate Matt Triplett, who made it just 3.86 seconds on his bull. Later that evening, Byrne rode I Always Stand for 4.13 seconds, knocking out Brazillian bull rider Eduardo Aparecido, who was 3.51 seconds on Wicked Stick.
Byrne returned with a vengeance on Saturday, covering Lightning Before Thunder for 87 points, and eliminating two-time PBR World Champion J.B. Mauney, who was bested in 4.74 seconds by Big Black.
