Yurt provides new camping experience at Great Blue Heron Park
There’s a new feature at the Great Blue Heron Provincial Park north of Prince Albert.
A Mongolian Yurt was installed in the park, giving campers an opportunity to try a new outdoor experience and making camping more accessible to people who may not have experience or equipment.
“The idea was to do a very small pilot, as this is not something we have traditionally done,” Park Manager Sonnet McGuire said. “Our research shows people want this type of accommodation and we will see how the pilot project goes this year.”
Gene Makowsky, the minister for sport, culture and recreation, said the yurt provides more people an opportunity to check out Anglin Lake with minimal packing and preparation required.
