WATCH: Paint goes down on city’s first Pride crosswalk
With paintbrushes and buckets in hand, students and staff plastered pavement with bright colours to celebrate Pride Month by creating Prince Albert’s first rainbow crosswalk.
Members of the Carlton Comprehensive Public High School Queer & Allies Club were out in force Tuesday morning, marking the crosswalk on Sixth Ave E between the high school and Carlton Court Plaza with the rainbow art. The club covered the cost of the supplies.
The request to paint the crosswalk, spearheaded by the Q&A club, was approved by city council May 28 despite opposition and safety concerns from Mayor Greg Dionne.
