Comedy evening raises funds for operational stress
“Laughter is a great reliever no matter who you are, but especially for folks who have very stressful jobs.”
Those were the words of comedian and XFM radio personality Kelly Taylor ahead of tonight’s Appreciation Comedy Steak Supper Evening at the P.A. Wildlife Federation just north of Prince Albert. Taylor, who has performed for the military in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Oman, and Thailand, and hosted countless events for firefighters and paramedics, is a huge supporter of people in uniform.
“They put everyone in front of themselves,” he said. “They do everything for everyone else. They are amazing people and I almost choke up whenever I meet a military person anywhere.”
Taylor is the star of the evening, which will be hosted by XFM morning show host Lew Harrison. The show will be a night of appreciation for all community heroes, he said, from the military to RCMP, firefighters, police and paramedics, hospital trauma personnel, 911 dispatchers and correctional officers. All profits go to OSI-CAN Peer Support Initiative, which assists those who have suffered post-traumatic stress disorder or an operational stress injury in the line of duty.
