Stars sweep Bears to win SFMAAAHL finals
The Prince Albert Northern Bears season ended on Tuesday night, as they were swept by the Saskatoon Stars in the finals of the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League playoffs. The Stars won Tuesday’s game 2-1 and complete the three-game sweep.
Last season, the Bears beat the Stars in three straight games to win their second league and provincial title, on their way to their first Esso Cup national championship.
The Bears’ lone goal Tuesday came from Kate Ball six minutes into the game. But in the final three minutes of the first period, the Stars got goals from Kaitlin Jockims and Mackenna Parker to take the 2-1 lead and eventually hold that score to win.
The Bears are graduating six players this year, including captain Hannah Koroll and fellow defenders Jordan Ashe and Colby Donald, goaltender Ryan Fontaine and forwards Camryn Amundson and Kassidy Kicia.
