Farm Credit Canada seeks applicants with ‘spirit’

More than $1.5 million is up for grabs this year for registered charities and non-profit organizations in rural Canada.

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) just started accepting applications for its AgriSpirit fund. The application deadline is March 29 and FCC will announce the selected projects in August.

Sophie Perreault, FCC executive vice-president and chief operating officer said the AgriSpirit Fund is an investment in rural Canada.

“It’s about partnering with individuals and groups who are committing their time and energy for the purpose of bettering their communities,” she said. 

Last year, the Rural Muncipality of Hoodoo was granted $15,000 toward the purchase of a used fire truck. The community of Caron received $20,000 which was used toward the renovations to their community hall.

Rural community groups can view the eligibility requirements, past projects and apply online by visiting the AgriSpirit Fund website. 

“We contribute to the communities where our customers and employees live and work. Supporting rural community projects through the FCC AgriSpirit Fund is one way we can make a real difference,” Perreault said.

Since inception of the FCC AgriSpirit Fund in 2004, FCC has supported over 1,000 capital projects in rural Canada totaling $10.5 million in donations.
