Raiders drop Rebels for second straight road win
It took a full sixty minutes, and an impressive effort by the penalty killers, as the Prince Albert Raiders dropped the Red Deer Rebels 3-2 Friday night to make it a perfect 2-0 start to the team’s Central Division road trip.
For the second straight game, the Raiders got on the board in the opening seconds, with Kody McDonald scoring his 31st of the season just 14 seconds in to put the visitors on the board before Jordy Stallard bookended the first period with a late tally, making it 2-0 after one.
“[Scoring early] gets you emotionally attached to the game, and I think it was important because we had a day off yesterday, it was a rest day, and to score early to get going, I thought our first period was solid,” said Raiders Associate Coach Dave Manson.
In the second, the Rebels were able to dig into the Raider lead as Alex Morozoff capitalized on a turnover to beat goaltender Ian Scott, then Josh Tarzwell deflected a point shot through traffic and past Scott on a Rebel power play to draw the game even at 2-2.
