Animal Rescue Information for La Ronge Area

Dec 18, 2017 | 8:59 AM

This has been a busy year for NAR,38 cats, 13 kittens, 177 puppies and 139 dogs, for a total of 367 animals, have been rehomed (most out of the community!)

These numbers do not include the 40 animals in the first two weeks of December (and 20 currently in foster care, on the waiting list) who were sent to rescue partners down south and Alberta, all of whom will be fortunate to spend the holidays either with a new family or in a place where they can expect warmth, regular meals and lots of love. We are very proud of the work that we have done and what we have been able to accomplish in partnership with many community members, fosters, and other rescues.

Over the holidays we will be taking time to be with our loved ones and will be encouraging people to work together to fill in the gaps while we are unable to operate at the same capacity that we have been the past several months. Our board is 100% volunteer run and we are all looking forward to the holiday season with our families and friends.

For people who have found a stray/roaming animal:
Please contact your local municipality-
Town of La Ronge: 306-425-2066, Village of Air Ronge: 306-425-2107/306-425-8866, or Lac La Ronge Indian Band: 306-420-7708
If the animal is in your care or somewhere that it can be kept safe until it can be placed, please let us know and we will do our best to help you to ensure it has food but we will not be taking animals in over the two week period.

For sick and injured animals:
Phone Park Range Vet Clinic 1-306-764-6998 for advice. Please report any abuse or neglect to the RCMP.
*Please remember it is your duty to ensure your pet’s medical needs are met and are legally required to ensure that your pet is not in any distress.

For people who are interested in surrendering their pet:
Post in the Facebook group/message NAR and we may be able to do a courtesy post but it may not be right away.

We will be less active on our Facebook account, phone, and text, though you are certainly welcome to send us a message and we will respond as we are able. Please be aware that it will likely not be as immediate as usual. We thank you all for your understanding, support, and we are wishing you all peace and love this holiday season.
