Mintos’ McMillen with monster night vs. Beardy’s

Dec 12, 2017 | 8:20 PM

The Prince Albert Mintos offence was led from the backline as Kade McMillen had another monster night in the Mintos’ 4-3 victory over the Beardy’s Blackhawks Tuesday at the Art Hauser Centre.

McMillen had a pair of goals for the Mintos in the victory. That extends McMillen’s scoring streak to five games, with three goals and eight assists in that time. He now has eight goals and 24 points in 25 games for the Mintos this year.

The night appeared easy in the first two periods for the Mintos, who scored two goals in the first two-and-a-half minutes of play. Dylan Scriven scored just 25 seconds into the game, and defenceman Kade McMillen scored his first of two goals in the game.

The Blackhawks were able to fight back in a big way to stay in the game thanks to a pair of goals from Talon Thomas, in the second period. The Blackhawks were able to tie the game at 3-3 after 40 minutes of play.

The Mintos got the crucial go-ahead goal in the third period. Mintos defenceman Alex Ozar put up a high wrist shot, which was tipped nicely by Hunter Schnell in front for the 4-3 goal.

The Mintos collected a large table full of food items for their annual food drive game. The Mintos played twice on the weekend at home, hosting the Saskatoon Blazers at the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday, and the Notre Dame Argos on Sunday. Both games start at 1:30 p.m.
