La Ronge says goodbye to popular restauranteur

A memorial service for restaurant owner Simon Grant will be held today in La Ronge.
Friends, family and community members will gather at the Kikinahk Friendship Centre at 2 p.m. today. After the service, mourners will meet at his restaurant Louisiana’s Bar-B-Que for food and ice cream.
A GoFundMe page was created to help Grant’s family pay for his funeral expenses. As of publication, the page had raised $2,175 of its $3,000 goal.
Grant, 64, was attacked after hours at Louisiana’s at roughly 11 p.m., April 15. RCMP said three masked men entered the business carrying handguns and baseball bats, and attacked Grant before fleeing with cash. Grant was airlifted to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon where he succumbed to his injuries Easter Monday.
