A 24-year-old man faces drug and weapon charges after Prince Albert police responded to a break-and-enter in progress early this morning.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of 12th St. E. after receiving a report of a break-in shortly after midnight. Upon their arrival patrol officers confirmed no entry had been gained to the residence and the suspect had fled the scene.

K9 service dog Febee was called in to track the suspect, and quickly located the 24-year-old in a nearby vehicle. He was arrested for having a large knife concealed on his person and a subsequent search revealed he was also carrying methamphetamine and cocaine.

The suspect was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. The suspect will be making an appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court after police conclude the investigation.
