Paintball Paradise to host first Pumpkin and Corn Maze Festival

Those looking for a thrill this Halloween can look no further than Prince Albert’s Paintball Paradise.

Owner George Lewko said their annual Haunt Nights are back along with the first annual Pumpkin and Corn Maze Festival.

The festival will run Oct. 15 and 22 from 1 to 7 p.m. while the Haunt Nights will run over the last three Friday’s and Saturday’s of Oct. starting at 7 p.m.

Lewko said they normally ran the corn maze from 5 to 7 p.m. but found they weren’t offering families enough time to enjoy it.

“It does take a little while to get through the corn maze, especially with smaller kids,” he said.

After seeing how popular some pumpkin festivals have been around the province, Lewko thought it would be a good idea to host one at Paintball Paradise.

“It seems to be quite popular, I’ve seen good numbers of people going through the corn mazes during the day with families, so it was one of those things where it’s a market we haven’t tapped,” he said.

The corn maze will be spread over three acres with family time from 1 to 7 p.m.

Once the last family is through and it’s truly dark, Lewko said the Night Haunts will begin, with actors placed throughout the maze to scare people.

“They each do different things to annoy people, some have masks and others don’t,” Lewko said.

From 7 to 9 p.m. if actors are asked to stop they will, but from 9 to 11 p.m. they won’t.

“We’ve had people fall down crying in a ball, some people peed themselves and some people will stay out there anywhere from an hour to two hours while the haunt is on,” Lewko said.

Something new this year is the haunted house at the McKay House starting at 7 p.m. on Haunt Nights.

“It’s got a weird story of a family being trapped in the winter time and having to eat each other’s eyeballs to survive so we have a bit of an eyeball theme this year,” he said. 

“It’s another little attraction for people to go through,” he continued.

Lewko said they expect to see over one thousand people each night for Haunt Nights.

As ever, Lewko said they have a substantial amount of pumpkins this year.

“We grow half an acre of pumpkins each year, so we have a whole pile of pumpkins,” he said.

They’ll host the Pumpkin Chunkin, where attendees can shoot a small pumpking out of a giant sling.

Paintball won’t be available but there will be laser tag instead. .

There will also be a hot kitchen and a canteen with everything from burgers, hot goods and homemade pumpkin pie.
