The newest, shiniest attraction in Regina was on display and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.

Fans came out in droves for eight hours on Satuday, Sept. 3 to check out the new Mosaic Stadium in its finished form. The sneak peek event was hosted by the City of Regina.

Ward McKinnon had high praise for the facility saying “it’s just outstanding, beautiful.”

Echoing that statement was Ken Fensom.

“I just think it’s just awesome, it’s just unbelievable, we’ve been waiting for something like this for I don’t know how many years,” she said.

Fensom added he was impressed with how big the jumbotron is in new facility.

Maureen Williams, another fan, thinks the new stadium is beautiful and full of new features.

“We like the concessions where they are, it seems like every seat can see pretty well,” she said.

Others in the crowd said the roof is impressive, the facility is spacious and it should be a great place for fans to watch and players to play.

“The seating’s close to the field, much closer to the field than I expected,” explained Dennis Williams.

On Wednesday, the media was given a tour of the new stadium which the city said is now substantially complete. There are a few minor details left to go, like the completion of the jumbotron.

A test game is taking place on Oct. 1 between the University of Regina Rams and University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

The Riders will play their first game at the new Mosaic Stadium in 2017.
