Second annual Ladies Gala coming next month

Aug 23, 2016 | 6:00 AM

Last year was a night in Hawaii and this year will be a Mexican fiesta.

The Prince Albert Optimist Club is once again hosting a Ladies Gala for the second year in a row on Sept. 10.

Deedre Tysiaczny, president of the Optimist Club, said the event is a fun night for ladies to attend and have a great time, all while raising money for children facing medical issues in the community.

“The committee discussed some of the kids that we could help and the three kids we’re helping have extreme medical conditions,” she said.

The money raised will be donated to local families to help cover travel expenses to doctor appointments in other cities along with additional expenses including food, gas and accommodations.

This year the funds raised through the Ladies Gala will go towards local children Addison Diehl, Julia Brandoline and Katie Enequist.

The Ladies Gala “is the easiest way to make money to help them, because the more you can help the better it is,” Tysiaczny said.

Last year the gala was able to raise enough money to donate $3,000 to four local families with sick children.

Tysiaczny said attendance was excellent last year with roughly 150 ladies taking part but she expects this year will see a greater attendance.

“Buy a ticket, come out and have some fun,” she said.

Tickets are $75 each or $600 for a table of eight.

The gala will include a chance to win a trip for two to Mexico and a trip for two to any WestJet destination.

The night will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m., a supper will follow at 7 p.m. and a dance to start at 9 p.m.

Maxwell Music will provide music throughout the night and there will also be a silent auction and wine pull.

Tysiaczny said there will even be a vendor alley including Tupperware and Scentsy products.

Tickets can be purchased through the P.A. Optimist website (LINK) or by contacting Shannon at 306-981-3612.
