Bed capacity reduced at Shellbrook hospital

Aug 5, 2016 | 10:39 AM

Shellbrook residents in need of overnight care at the town’s hospital, may have to explore all their options.

The Prince Albert Parkland Health has reduced the number of inpatient beds at the Parkland Integrated Health Centre from 20 to 15 in response to a registered nursing shortage.

The reduction will stay in place until adequate staffing is available.

“This was a difficult decision to make, however, it is important that we ensure our staff have a situation where they can confidently provide quality and safe care for our patients,” Cecile Hunt said, Chief Executive Officer in a press release.
