Budik and his Under-18 Czechs to face tough Yankees

Prince Albert Raiders defenceman Vojtech Budik and the Czech Republic side will have a steep hill to climb as they head into the elimination stages of the 2016 IIHF Under-18 World Championships in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

They face Team U.S.A in the quarterfinals on Thursday, who are one of two undefeated teams in the tournament have sport a +26 goal differential through four games. The other all-win side is Team Canada, also going 4-0 in their pool. Canada beat Finland 3-1 Tuesday to keep their perfect record alive.

The Czechs could have avoided the Americans with a win on Tuesday, but they fell 4-3 to Slovakia. Budik finished the round robin with two assists.
