P.A.’s Lehner finished fifth at CIS nationals

Prince Albert’s Katelyn Lehner can say she’s a top five athlete in Canada.

Lehner finished fifth in the pentathlon at the 2016 CIS Track and Field Championships at York University on Thursday, March 10.

As a third-year athlete with the University of Calgary Dinos track and field team, Lehner scored 3,649 points in the five-event pentathlon.

She finished second in the 60-metre hurdles with a time of 8.62 and a five-way tie for second place with a jump of 1.64 metres. Lehner also finished fifth in both the shot put and 800-metre, and ninth in the long jump.

Lehner isn’t the only Prince Albert product or St. Mary Marauder alumnus at the CIS nationals. Fellow former Marauder Jessica Buettner will be performing in the shot put on Friday, as a member of the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.
