Nov 24, 2015 | 6:20 AM

The Carlton Crusader Senior Football awards were held Wednesday Nov. 18 at Carlton Comprehensive Public High School.

Carlton gives out two types of awards. The first is the Position Awards, which are given out to one player from each individual position grouping based on skill, leadership, and dedication over the course of the season.

Winners of these awards were defensive line (DE/DT) Josh Arnason, offensive line (OG) Lance Meier, running back Bryson Simpson, linebacker (MLB) Tanner Pedersen, receiver (WR) Cole Lindsay, and defensive back (CB) Michael Scharkowski.

The second awards given out were the major awards.

Jacques Lavoie won Rookie of the Year, the Max Heart and Hustle Award went to Bryson Simpson, Special Teams Player of the Year was awarded to Tanner Pedersen, Lineman of the Year was awarded to Darryl Sanderson, Most Valuable Defensive Player was awarded to Carson Kristensen, Most Valuable Offensive Player was awarded to Bryson Simpson & Shelton Paul.

Coach Lindsay Strachan thinks that during the year the focus on team success and awards night is a way to highlight key performers.

“During the season we focus on team first and that’s a really important aspect, but it’s a great opportunity once the years over to reward some of the outstanding individual performances that helped us achieve our team goals,” said Strachan.

Carlton is done football until they hold their annual spring camp near the end of the school year.
