Bears blank Hounds in first of two-game series
The Prince Albert A&W Bears beat the Notre Dame Hounds 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Art Hauser Centre. The win lifts the Bears record to 7-5 on the season, with all seven of those wins coming in regulation.
Bears goaltender Shayla Youngman made 11 saves in the shutout victory for the Bears, her first clean sheet this season and the fourth of her career.
The Bears got an early boost, as Ireland South scored on a rebound goal within the first three minutes of the game. Bears defender Hannah Koroll extended the Bears lead to 2-0 with a power play blast of her own.
While shorthanded with five minutes left in the third period, Bears rookie defender Abby DeCorby scored her first Midget AAA career goal to extend the lead to 3-0.
