‘Big Dig’ falters just after finale

Less than a week after the ‘Big Dig’ ended, there is a new lane restriction in place on Second Avenue West.

The right southbound lane at 14th Street is blocked off and southbound traffic is down to one lane for about a block.

A spokesperson for the city told paNOW they had a water failure over the weekend.  They suspect a clamp failed, or the tie-in between the old system and the new system let go.

A contractor is coming in Monday morning and the city expects to have a better answer by this afternoon.
