Wanska Talent recently hosted a launch party featuring Fashion Show with performances by Ernest Monias, The Country Rock Company, Marty Ballentyne and many more, Otober 28, in Saskatoon.

‘Wanska’ in Cree means wake up.  Wanska Talent is about waking up people. When we say this we speak to the consciousness of who we innately are. Its giving everyone permission to be who they are supposed to be and encouraging that we do it together. Open up, Stand up, and Show yourself.

We believe in empowering the people. Giving those a chance to develop their artistry. Our mission is to empower artists by creating a fun interactive environment where talent can feel free to express and grow into the artists they want to be with real life experience and on going one on one mentoring. Our vision is that our talent will gain a sense of belonging and have the support to be their best selves.

Our team consists of three main organizers: Danny Mirasty, Entertainment and Special Events Coordinator. Danny is from the Lac La Ronge Band and is a drummer for the successful “Black Eyed Creez”.  He is the founder of the grassroots organization,‘RISE UP” Violence Against Woman and believes strongly in bringing Awareness to Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Woman.

Geraldine Carriere, the Founder & Executive Director, is from Cumberland House, Saskatchewan. She is a former CBC Reporter and documentary host for the 2013 North American Indigenous Games and a multitalented artist. She conducts a wide range of communications in humanitarian work.

Robin McLeod, is the Financial & Operations Manager. Robin is part of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band from the community of Stanley Mission. He currently sits as the treasurer and is the operations manager with Northern Saskatchewan Trappers Association. Robin has extensive experience in proposal writing and event management. Robin has worked with FSIN, PAGC and his First Nations in various capacities and has ability to read and create financial documents.
