Rebels win Beasts of the East contest by shutting out Raiders
It took the Memorial Cup hosting Red Deer Rebels to hand the Prince Albert Raiders their first shutout loss of the season.
Rebels goaltender Rylan Toth stopped all 34 shots he saw as the Rebels skated away with a 4-0 win over the Raiders Friday at the Art Hauser Centre. With the win, the Rebels leapfrogged the Raiders for first in the WHL Eastern Conference with their 13th win. The Raiders stay at 12-4-1-1.
The loss stung Raiders captain Tim Vanstone, who was blunt in his post-game interviews.
“Red Deer was the better team,” said Vanstone. “They came out and beat us, 4-rip is unacceptable from me on out, in the room.
