P.A. firefighters raise their boots for Muscular Dystrophy

Prince Albert firefighters held out their boots for donations Saturday in front of Canadian Tire.

Any donations thrown into their boots goes towards Muscular Dystrophy, which is the national charity for Canadian firefighters.

Last year P.A. raised nearly $8,000.

“It’s close to what bigger cities like Saskatoon raise,” firefighter Stephane Gaudet said.

“It shows a lot for the people we have in the city, and how important charities are within the community. It’s good to know that we have people like that.”

Malcolm Jenkins, owner of P.A.’s Canadian Tire, matches what the firefighters raise.

“I certainly applaud the firefighters for the work they do, and I’m happy to help them,” Jenkins said.

He cited the Bible passage “to whom much was given, of him much will be required,” as his reason for giving back.

“There are folks out there suffering from MD and all these other disease that we will eventually eradicate. If I can do a little bit to bring that closer, I’m going to do it.”
