The head golf professional at Cooke Municipal Golf Course has been named the Sask PGA Professional of the Year.

“It’s pretty special, there are so many good professionals in Saskatchewan and to be recognized in this way it’s a huge honour,” said Darcy Myers.

Myers was up against other golf pros from Saskatoon and Regina.

He said his drive for his job comes from working with people

“You know I love coming to work and just dealing with people, some you see once a day, some you see once a year,” he said.

Myers began his career as an assistant professional at Cooke Municipal Golf Course in 1996.

In 2006, he moved on to the Candle Lake Golf Resort to become their Director of Operations.

Myers returned to Cooke Municipal Golf Course in 2010.

He is one of only four pro’s at the club in its 100-year history.

The awards banquet was held Tuesday night in Saskatoon at the Willow’s Golf and Country Club.
