Red hot Raiders are tops in the WHL after historic start; Meger called up
When it comes to addressing his teams after games, Prince Albert Raiders head coach Marc Habscheid goes by a mantra: “don’t say much after a loss and say even less after a win.”
Habscheid has barely had to say anything at all this year in his postgame pep talks as his team is 10-2-0-1 out of the gates, continuing the Raiders’ best start since Western Hockey League records have shown since the 1996-1997 season. They’ve also won their last six games they’ve played, starting on Oct. 13.
They picked up their 10th win on Sunday, Oct. 25 against the Regina Pats, a 2-1 overtime victory on the road and are currently the top-ranked team in the WHL. That’s the earliest they’ve received their 10th win, in both date and number of games.
To put their start into perspective, the Raiders didn’t reach double-digit wins until Nov. 13 last season when they were 10-13.
