Parkland Ambulance Paramedics deal with assault-heavy weekend

Parkland Ambulance Paramedics responded to 68 incidents over the weekend.

Most of their significant calls were for assaults.

Friday night they cared for a 50-year-old man in the 3400 block of 2nd Ave. W. for an assault. The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for further care.

Early Saturday morning paramedics responded to several assaults.

They cared for a 15-year-old boy and two girls, age 18 and 20, who all suffered minor injuries in the 600 block of 14th St. W.

An 18-year-old girl in the 500 block of 6th St. E. was taken to Victoria Hospital with major injuries. She has been transferred to Saskatoon City Hospital where she is in good and stable condition.

A 16-year-old boy was treated with minor injuries in the 1000 block of 4th St. E. before being taken to hospital for further care.

Saturday night saw paramedics responding to a call in the 500 block of 15th St. W, where a 24-year-old man was treated. He was taken to hospital in good condition for further care.

Also on Saturday night, paramedics responded to a 28-year-old man with minor injuries in the Red Wing Area. He was taken to hospital in good condition.

A 30-year-old-man in the 1600 block of 17th St. W. with injuries was cared for and taken to hospital in good condition for further care.

With winter quickly approaching, Parkland Ambulance wants everyone to make sure their car is winter-ready.

Make sure you have snow tires and a winter safety kit in your vehicle.
