Project Triple Play Looks for Online Support
Prince Albert’s Project Triple Play continues to gain momentum towards major renovations at Prime Ministers’ Park including a new 1300 seat softball stadium n preparation to potentially host the 2018 World Junior Men’s Softball Championships. The $1.2M fundraising campaign is looking to get a boost from the AVIVA Community Fund. Project Triple Play is one of over 100 entries nation-wide eligible to secure a $100,000 grant from AVIVA Canada.
Project Triple Play’s entry “Our Stadium’s Future is Bright!” (Entry ACF32406) is available to view at www.avivacommunityfund.org where voting begans Tuesday, October 6 and continues on through Friday, October 23. The top five on-line votes as of October 23 will advance to the next stage of judging in the AVIVA competition.
The renovations will include the construction of a new feature diamond with lighting and stadium style seating and upgrades to the current Diamond #2. Funds from the AVIVA Community Grant, if successful, will go towards the lighting of the new diamond.The International Softball Federation is set to announce the host community for the 2018 World Junior Men’s Championships later this month and the Project Triple Play committee is hopeful Prince Albert will be the recipient.
“In order for us to host the World Championships, we required these renovations to Prime Ministers’ Park,” said Ian Litzenberger, Chairman of Project Triple Play. “The new diamond and upgrades will provide the softball community of Prince Albert with premiere facilities not only for the Worlds’, but for years to come.”
