The right to vote applies to inmates too

Oct 19, 2015 | 8:49 AM

The right to vote still applies for inmates.

One or more polling stations will be set up at the Saskatchewan Federal Penitentiary throughout the day Monday.

Voting will begin at 9 a.m. and the polls will remain open until everyone who wants to vote has voted, but no later than 8 p.m.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees every Canadian citizen, over the age of 18, including incarcerated individuals the right to vote in federal, provincial and territorial elections.
