What you need to know to cast your vote

On Monday Oct. 19 make sure you’re properly prepared to vote.

The polling stations will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Be sure to bring your voter registration card with you. If you have not received your registration in the mail, you can register at the polling station. 

The name of your polling station should be clearly indicated on your voter registration card. If you did not receive a registration card, click here to enter your postal code and determine where you should go on election day.

Bring your government-issued ID. Many pieces of ID will be accepted. If you don’t have a driver’s license of provincial/territorial ID card, bring at least two pieces of ID for identification.

One must have your current address on it.

A health card, passport, prescription label, personal cheques, firearms license and credit card statement will all be accepted.

Everyone is eligible to vote.

Employers must legally provide three hours for you to cast your vote.  You cannot legally be deducted pay for taking time off from work.

Your employer has the right to decide when the time off to vote is given. Make sure to consult your employer about an appropriate time to cast your ballot.
