Votes needed to help supply grant for Prime Ministers’ Park

The City of Prince Albert is in the running to host the 2018 Junior Men’s World Softball Championships.

But first, the city needs to renovate Prime Ministers’ Park, something Project Triple Play has been working towards.

Their bid committee has applied for a grant through the Aviva Community Fund, a process very competitive grant which provides $100,000 for community projects.

Phase one of the elimination process involves online voting.

“I believe there are about 130 different communities and their projects, and the top five from each category qualify for the next round so we definitely need the votes,” said Ian Litzenberger with the bid committee.

The five finalists from each category go before a panel of judges.

“Everyone is able to register their email and vote once per day,” said Litzenberger.

The voting periods ends at 4 p.m. on Oct. 23.

Project Triple Play announced renovations to the ball park last February.

Litzenberger said they have made some progress already as the construction phases have all been secured.

The Broda Group has been named as the title sponsor, and will also act as the project manager.
