Gardiner’s great weekend earns WHL POW honours

Reid Gardiner is the WHL player of the week.

The 19-year-old from Humboldt had three goals and two assists in shootout and overtime wins this past weekend over Vancouver and Medicine Hat respectively.

Gardiner was named one of the Raiders’ assistant captains on Wednesday and put that leadership to work two nights later against the Giants. In addition to his bar down snipe to tie the game in the third period, Gardiner sniped the lone goal of the shootout.

The right winger’s three point performance Saturday against the Tigers included a first period power play point blast, and a broken stick one-timer which proved to be the overtime winner.
