Myers said playing music can bring back memories from the past and it was something her family tried on her father. She said a portion of the proceeds from the show’s merchandise will be going to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.

“Once you lose a loved one to a disease you just can’t help but be an avid supporter of research for it,” said Myers.

Myers has been performing as a Stevie Nicks tribute artist for years. She said she’s gotten to the point where she can simply flip a switch and get into character.

She said Stevie Nicks is still relevant and reinventing herself and she doesn’t think her portrayal would impress the singer.

“Stevie doesn’t really dig it,” said Myers. “I’ve never met her but I’ve met her best friend and I’ve met several people in her camp.

“I’ve never had the opportunity to meet her but I know she’s just not impressed by that. She would likely be more impressed with my solo album.”

By the end of the show Myers performs songs from that album.

Rock On – Fearless Journey, was released earlier this year. She enjoys the chance to shed her character for a while.

“I love portraying Stevie Nicks and acting and being a character and mimicking her singing voice and wearing her awesome costumes, but I also like being myself.”

According to Myers, her audience seems to enjoy that part of the show as well.

“I’ve had a lot of people say their favourite part was when I came on towards the end as me and whipped out like 5 of my own songs.”

Myers said she is excited to be hitting the road in Canada. Originally from the United States, she has never done a Canadian tour, but she doesn’t want it to end there.

“We really want to take this show world-wide,” said Myers. “We’d love to go overseas to Europe … and I would love to take it to the states, to the south, to Memphis where I grew up.

“Sky’s the limit. You know it’s a relatively new show, we’re trying to get legs on it but I think we’re off to a really good start with it.”
