Thick fog blanketing eastern Saskatchewan is still causing problems on highways in and around Saskatoon.

RCMP cautioning people to drive with care on the highways after reports of several collisions on Highway 11, due to poor visibility.

The fog is blamed for a bad crash on Highway 16, east of the city, at the main intersection with Clavet.

“Maybe a hundred yards at tops, of vision of the cars approaching,” said one caller into News Talk 650 CKOM on the crash, which he says involves several vehicles.

RCMP said the crash between a semi and car around 6 a.m. sent a man to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Another driver described an accident north of the city on Highway 11, at the intersection of 305 at Warman.

“A black pick-up truck rear ended an old farm truck. Contents are spewed all over the highway. The black truck basically crushed like an accordion.” the caller described, adding visibility was down to the length of a football field.

Other people driving by the scene say that the fog is so thick it’s even difficult to see the brake lights of the people stopped at the accident.

RCMP have also been called to crashes near Duck Lake and Outlook.

Environment Canada says the fog should lift early this afternoon.
