Mullis wins his first ever golf tournament at City Open

Sep 13, 2015 | 5:54 PM

Clay Mullis has been playing in competitive tournaments for over 20 years, but had yet to win any in the Championship Flight.

That all changed on Sunday, as Mullis broke the two-decade long streak as he won the City Open this weekend at Cooke Municipal Golf Course.

On Sunday, he shot a -1, 70, which was tied for the best round of the tournament.

That under-par performance helped Mullis jump up the ranks, as he entered Sunday in a four-way tie for third place at 73, two back of the lead.

“It feels great and it’s about time,” Mullis grinned. “It feels great, first time winning a tournament. I had to play better than the other guys to win because I was a couple back to start.”
