Electrical fire temporarily shuts down A&W

Jul 25, 2015 | 9:00 AM

The A&W on Marquis Dr. will be closed for repairs following an electrical fire.

At 1:51 p.m. on Thursday, July 22, fire fighters were called to the restaurant to respond to a small fire.

Customers were evacuated from the restaurant. No one was hurt or injured.

Fire Inspector Quentin Rowland estimates damages to cost 10 to 15-thousand dollars.

“It doesn’t look that bad, but they’re going to have to replace a good chunk of wall and some wiring. The wiring that affected the fire actually caused damage to the adjacent wiring so I’m sure that’s going to be fairly expensive to replace.”

“There wasn’t much of a fire. It was confined to a pretty small area. It was knocked down pretty quickly,” he said.

Police were not called onto the scene as the fire is deemed non-suspicious.

“Nothing suspicious whatsoever. Just a fluky kind of thing,” Rowland said.

The owner spoke with paNOW and said he hopes to have the restaurant up and running within two weeks.
