A 17-year-old girl is facing numerous charges after a potentially life threatening incident.

Early Wednesday morning, members of the Prince Albert Police Service responded to a complaint of a disturbance in the 2300 block of 2nd Ave West.

Upon arrival police found a girl at the front door of the residence, and she was attempting to get inside.

When police attempted to confront her, the girl produced a large kitchen knife and she began waving the knife aggressively.

Police attempted to convince the girl to drop the knife, but she refused and continued to pose a serious threat to officers.

At this point, police tasered the girl and she was taken into custody with no serious injuries.

None of the officers were hurt in the incident.

The girl was later transported to hospital for medical attention.

She is now facing charges of carrying a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public, resist arrest and commit mischief by willfully destroying or damaging property to a value not exceeding five thousand dollars.

She was released from custody to her guardian on strict conditions and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.
