Man/Sask AA Long Course Provincial Championship Weekend

Jul 7, 2015 | 3:51 PM

The Prince Albert Sharks have just returned from Man/Sask AA Long Course provincial championships held in Winnipeg Manitoba.

We had eight swimmers attend and came home with some great results.  So congratulations swimmers.

First off, we had some first time qualifiers at the competition, Mackalie Bates and Shannon Spademan. Both girls did a fantastic job and got to see some incredibly fast racing!

Graham Elder made his first finals at this exciting competition putting him top 16 in both provinces.  Also making finals were Nachelle Spademan and Emma Kress.  Each swimmer had some great personal best times and worked hard all season to qualify and swim well there.

This now brings us to our medal winners. Tristan Anderson got personal bests in his medal events and won gold for 50 Breastroke, and a silver in the 100 Brestroke as well.   Kendall Horan won silver in the 50 Free and 100 Back, as well as bronze in the 50 Back and 100 Free.  Kendall broke four club records during the meet and also qualified for the 2015 Age Group Nationals held in Quebec city July 29th to August 3rd. This is Kendall’s first time qualifying for this competition and it requires her to qualify in three different events so it is a very hard to qualify for.

After that, in August, we will be sending Kendall and Tristan to the Western Canada summer games Aug 11-17! In order to qualify for that they had to be the fastest 16 and under in Saskatchewn in their events.  Looking back over the season the swimmers have all worked and continue to work very hard, with some great results achieved and looking forward to some exciting racing in the weeks to come.

Keep looking for news from the pool.
