CROP REPORT: Haying underway and farmers hoping for moisture
Farmers in the province are in the midst of haying season, according to this week’s crop report by Saskatchewan Agriculture.
The majority of hay in the province has been rated as good, although many hay swaths are much smaller than normal and bales will likely be in short supply.
Topsoil moisture conditions are worsening with the hot and dry weather. The majority or crops and hay land are currently short of moisture.
Crops seem to be coming along nicely although most aren’t flourishing as well as usual, coming up drier, thinner and flowering earlier. The majority of crops are at their normal stage of development right now.
