Outdoor Activities Resume in PA – Canada Day Still Postponed

Jul 1, 2015 | 10:02 AM

The City of Prince Albert would like to advise the public that air quality due to heavy smoke in the area has improved significantly overnight. Therefore, all outdoor activities at City facilities will resume as per regular operating hours.

The City would like the public to note the following:
– The Kinsmen Water Park will open at 1:00 pm today
– Bookings will resume at City sport fields for this evening.
– Paddling pools and spray parks will open in conjunction with the Playground Program tomorrow.
– Cooke Municipal Golf Course is now open.

Air quality is measured on an index with 10 rated as “high risk”. An acceptable level on the index needed to be a 4 before outdoor activities could resume. The conditions remain subject to change and the City will advise if the Air Quality Index increases to a higher risk.

The City would also like to remind residents that Canada Day celebrations in Kinsmen Park remain cancelled and a new date will be communicated to the general public once a decision is made. Residents should also note that the fire ban at Little Red River Park remains in place is also in effect for all City parks. This means no fires or fireworks within City limits.
