Leslie Black sentencing delayed

Jun 26, 2015 | 12:13 PM

The conclusion to the court case for the man who attacked Marlene Bird last June has been delayed.

Leslie Ivan Roderick Black was set for sentencing at Prince Albert’s Provincial Court on Friday, months after pleading guilty to attempted murder. However, his attendance was waived at this court appearance.

An additional charge of aggravated sexual assault is expected to be dropped once Black is sentenced.

The delay in completion of a presentence report, which includes a psychiatric assessment, has led to an adjournment until late July.
