Icehawks name Mesenchuk as team’s new GM to keep team alive
The Prince Albert Icehawks’ future depended on finding a new general manager to take over the team. They almost ran out of time as well, but at the death they were able to find Wayne Mesenchuk.
Just before the weekend before Prairie Junior Hockey League meetings, the team announced on Thursday that Wayne Mesenchuk will take over as the team’s president and general manager.
Mesenchuk replaces Allan Pasloski, who helped create the team seven years and has been the general manager since. Pasloski resigned from his spot in April, citing health issues as one of the reasons for his departure.
Mesenchuk has a long hockey background, including holding the president’s position with the Prince Albert Raiders between 1992-1994 as well as six years as manager on the Prince Albert Midget AA Thunder for six years.
