An Alberta man charged in a Saskatoon murder case has been found guilty of uttering death threats to a staff member at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.

Joshua Dylan Petrin, 31, was sentenced to four months time served after the conclusion of his on-again-off-again trial, which was adjourned in February when Petrin’s lawyer withdrew from the case.

The death threats stem from Feb. 16, 2013 while Petrin was on remand for the first-degree murder of Lorry Santos. The Saskatoon woman was shot and killed while answering her door on Sept. 12, 2012 during a targeted hit on the wrong house.

He is expected to stand trial for Santos’ murder in September.
