Teenage girl dies after hit by van on Sask. reserve

Charges are pending in a fatal accident that claimed the life of a teenage girl on the the Big Island Lake Cree Nation near the Alberta border.
On Saturday at approximately 8:10 a.m., Pierceland RCMP were called about a female pedestrian that was hit by a vehicle on a rural road on the reserve.
When RCMP arrived they found the dead teen beneath a Ford van. She was later identified as a 13-year-old youth from Frog Lake, Alberta.
Her family has been notified and her name will not be released at this time.
The driver of the van, a 26-year-old woman from Big Island Lake Cree Nation, was arrested at the scene. Pierceland RCMP continue to investigate and charges are pending.
