Local contracting company honoured with Lieutenant Governor Award

As it turns out, a little history goes a long way.

Local Contractor firm RNF Ventures has been selected for best restoration in the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan Architectural Heritage Awards.

The company managed to complete renovations on the historically sensitive “Trading Block” building which is home to their headquarters.

The 811 Central Ave. location in downtown Prince Albert was snapped up by the company last November. The building needed a lot of work, but president Kelly Miller told paNOW at the time that they never considered demolishing the building.

As the walls, which were put up in the early 1900s, literally crumbled around them, they worked away.

Their new lighting, canopies, stucco and roof were funded by the largest grant approval by Main Street Prince Albert. They were given $40,000 in October and were able to complete the work.

Now less than a year later, they have been recognized provincially at Government House on Tuesday June 9.

The award was given to them by Her Honour the Honourable Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan.

RNF Ventures was the only private company to be awarded this year.
