Dunphy wins Men’s Lobstick Open; match play opens Wednesday
Shaun Dunphy has softened the blow from last year’s last-hole loss to Prince Albert’s Greg Swenson in the Lobstick match play championship flyte final.
The Saskatoon golfer fired an even-par-70 in Tuesday’s second round to win the 2015 Men’s Lobstick Open championship. His 36-hole total of 1-over-par-141 on the Waskesiu Golf Course was one shot better than pro and first-round leader Jerry Christiansen and Humboldt’s Mike Herperger. Dunphy said holding the trophy moments later was a thrill.
“It feels pretty awesome, I feels fantastic actually … there’s a lot of cool names on here.”
Dunphy had to wait for the final foursome to finish their rounds before learning he was the winner, but remained calm.
