Prince Albert’s Karly Wormworth has many accomplishments as a golfer. She attended the Savannah College of Arts and Design in Savannah, GA for five years and played golf in a competitive college circuit for the majority of her time there.

However the young lady who grew up at Cooke Municipal had never won the Northern Ladies Amatuer title on her home course until Sunday.

“It’s nice, yeah I’ve never won it before” said Wormworth. “It’s a pleasure.”

She was the model of consistancy with two rounds of 81. Karly’s 162 total was three shots better than Pauline McDougall with Kim Risulmi another shot back in third. Risulmi tgopped the leaderboard with a one shot lead on Wormworth after the first round but carded an 86 through the final 18 holes.

Wormworth said a relaxed approach to the weekend was one of the keys to victory.

“I was hitting the ball well, I struggled a little bit with my short game, but I made some shots when I needed to, so overall it was good enough to win.”

In addition to one of the top tournaments of the year for the local ladies, Karly said it was enjoyable from a social standpoint.

“Oh absolutely, yeah I come here just to see all the ladies again and play and have a drink with them.”

Ann Kirkland won the Senior championship with a 36-hole total of 165, 14 shots ahead of Denise Wilson.
